El servicio de documentación del centro de referencia estatal de atención a personas con enfermedad de Alzheimer del IMSERSO

Abstract

[ES] Introducción: El servicio de documentación del Centro de Referencia Estatal de atención a personas con enfermedad de Alzheimer y otras demencias del Imserso en Salamanca (CREA) se encuentra adscrito al Área de Referencia del centro y es de acceso abierto a todas aquellas personas interesadas, siendo el encargado de obtener, normalizar y compartir información y datos relacionados con el alzhéimer y las demencias. Objetivos: Presentar y dar a conocer este servicio de documentación que, debido a su especificidad temática en la enfermedad de Alzheimer y las demencias, es el único especializado en este ámbito que existe a nivel nacional en un momento en el que el número de personas afectadas por este tipo de enfermedades neurodegenerativas es cada vez mayor. Material y método: Para cumplir con este objetivo, se expondrán las principales actividades y funciones que este servicio del CRE Alzheimer del Imserso realiza, entre las que destacan la difusión de información especializada y el apoyo a la investigación del alzhéimer y el resto de demencias. Resultados: En la actualidad, la biblioteca especializada presenta un catálogo que se compone de más de 2.500 volúmenes (novelas, cine y literatura científica, entre otros), mientras que el buscador web supera los 1.000 registros (como videos de sensibilización, artículos científicos o boletines) y la base de datos los 5.000 materiales (monografías, artículos, tesis doctorales, etc.). Además, en los últimos cinco años, el centro de documentación ha favorecido la realización de investigaciones científicas y de trabajos académicos al responder a 1.133 solicitudes de información (983 internas y 150 externas), con un plazo de resolución medio de 2 días y 18 horas. Discusiones-Conclusiones: En definitiva, la existencia del servicio de documentación del CREA responde a contribuir en su labor como entidad divulgativa y de transferencia de conocimiento sobre la enfermedad de Alzheimer y las demencias, buscando dotar a los usuarios de información pertinente, veraz y ajustada a sus necesidades a la vez que sustentar teóricamente todas aquellas investigaciones y proyectos que se realizan en el centro. [EN] Introduction: The documentation service of the National Reference Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care of the Imserso in Salamanca (CREA) belongs to the Reference Area of the center and is an open access resource to everyone interested, being responsible of retrieve, standardize and share information and data related to Alzheimer’s and dementias. Objectives: Introducing and promoting this documentation service which, due to its thematic specificity in Alzheimer’s disease and dementias, is the only one specialized in this field at a national level at a time when the number of people affected by these neurodegenerative diseases is increasing. Material and method: To fulfill this objective, the main activities and functions carried out by this service at the National Reference Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care of the Imserso will be presented, including the propagation of specialized information and support for Alzheimer’s and other dementias research. Results: Currently, the specialized library has a catalog that is integrated by more than 2,500 volumes (novels, films and scientific literature, among others), whereas the web search engine exceeds 1,000 records (such as awareness-raising videos, scientific articles or newsletters) also the database has more than 5,000 materials (monographs, articles, doctoral theses, etc.). In addition, during the last five years, the documentation center has facilitated scientific research and academic work by responding to 1,133 requests for information (983 internal and 150 external), with an average response time between 2 days and 18 hours. Discussions-conclusions: The existence of the CREA documentation service reaches the goal to contribute as a propagation and transfer entity about Alzheimer’s disease knowledge with the purpose of providing the users with relevant, accurate and updated information according to their needs, meanwhile theorically supporting all the research and projects developed in the center.
