Asociación entre los datos de enfermedad y la búsqueda de información en España: el caso de la sífilis y la gonorrea

Abstract

[ES] Introducción: La Web 2.0 ofrece importantes oportunidades cuando se busca información sobre salud. Objetivo: Analizar la tendencia de las búsquedas que se realizan en España a través de Google sobre sífilis y gonorrea y su relación con los datos de enfermedad. Metodología: Los datos se obtuvieron de Google Trends y del Boletín Epidemiológico Semanal. Variables estudiadas: datos de las infecciones de transmisión sexual, volumen de búsqueda relativo (VBR) e hitos. Resultados: Las tendencias de VBR para la sífilis resentaron una progresión ligeramente decreciente (R2=0,05). En la gonorrea la evolución fue ligeramente creciente con ajuste exponencial (R2=0,04). La relación del VBR entre los términos de búsqueda dio baja asociación lineal (R=0,34). La correlación entre los datos de sífilis y el VBR fue no significativa (R=-0,09). La gonorrea presentó baja asociación lineal significativa (R=0,21). Conclusiones: Si bien los datos de enfermedad reflejaron el crecimiento que ya había sido anunciado por diferentes instituciones sanitarias nacionales e internacionales, los datos sobre búsqueda de información no representaron un aumento de la preocupación por estas ITS que influyera en el aumento de la pesquisa online. [EN] Introduction: Web 2.0 offers unprecedented opportunities when looking for health information. The objective was to analyze the trend of searches for information about syphilis and gonorrhea, which are carried out in Spain through Google and the possible relation with disease data. Methodology: The search data were obtained through online access to Google Trends: those of illness in Spain from the weekly epidemiological bulletin. The variables studied were: data from infections sexually transmitted, relative search volume (RSV) and milestones. Results: RSV syphilis trends presented slightly decreasing progression (R 2 =0,05). In the case of gonorrhea evolution was slightly increased with exponential fitting (R 2 =0.04). The RSV relationship between the two search terms gave a low linear Association (R=0.34). The correlation between disease of syphilis data and the RSV was not significant (R=- 0.09). Low significant direct linear Association was observed for gonorrhea (R=0.21). Conclusions: although disease data reflected the growth that had already been announced by different national and international health institutions, data on search for information did not represent an increase in concern for these STD that influence the increase of the research online.
