[ES] Introducción: La pandemia COVID-19, causada por el virus SARS-CoV-2, produjo un colapso sin precedentes. Los profesionales sanitarios enfrentaron una gran carga asistencial y escasez de recursos, unido al desconocimiento de un virus con gran letalidad, repercutiendo en su salud mental. Método: Para estudiar dicha repercusión, se analizó la duración de la incapacidad laboral por trastornos mentales en sanitarios a través del estudio de una base de datos facilitada por el Instituto Nacional de la Seguridad Social, comparando dichos expedientes según sexo, edad, ocupación y resolución. Resultados: Se obtuvieron 51.746 expedientes; el 88,11% correspondió a mujeres, con una edad media de 45,12 años; el 59,69% estuvo relacionado con ansiedad; el 99,8% finalizó en alta; la duración media de la incapacidad fue de 64,12 días; y los auxiliares de enfermería fueron el grupo más afectado. Se observó de manera estadísticamente significativa una duración decreciente de los expedientes, incapacidades más largas en mujeres y trabajadores de mayor edad, y procesos más cortos en médicos de familia. Conclusiones: El impacto sobre la salud mental entre sanitarios durante la pandemia disminuyó con el tiempo gracias a las mejoras en los recursos y el conocimiento de la enfermedad, reflejándose en incapacidades más cortas. Además, quienes más se beneficiarían de actuaciones preventivas serían los auxiliares de enfermería, las mujeres, las personas de mediana edad y quienes presentan ansiedad. Se proponen medidas preventivas basadas en educación y formación, apoyo colectivo y profesional, y una mayor implicación de las instituciones. En definitiva, se resalta la importancia de la salud mental y su impacto entre los profesionales sanitarios, siendo crucial implementar medidas preventivas y promover entornos laborales más saludables. Healthcare professionals faced a heavy workload, resource shortages, and uncertainty regarding a highly lethal virus, all of which negatively affected their mental health. Method: To examine this impact, the duration of work incapacity due to mental disorders among healthcare workers was analyzed using a database provided by the National Social Security Institute. Cases were compared according to sex, age, occupation, and resolution. Results: A total of 51,746 cases were identified: 88.11% involved women, the mean age was 45.12 years, 59.69% were related to anxiety, 99.8% resulted in discharge, the average duration of incapacity was 64.12 days, and nursing assistants were the most affected occupational group. A statistically significant decrease in case duration over time was observed, with longer disability periods among women and older workers, and shorter periods among family physicians. Conclusions: The impact on the mental health of healthcare workers during the pandemic decreased over time due to improvements in resources and greater knowledge of the disease, as reflected by shorter periods of incapacity. Furthermore, nursing assistants, women, middle-aged workers, and individuals with anxiety would benefit most from preventive interventions. Proposed measures include education and training programs, collective and professional support, and greater institutional involvement. Overall, the study highlights the importance of mental health among healthcare workers and underscores the need to implement preventive measures and promote healthier work environments.
