[ES] El yoga es un antiguo sistema de filosofía india incorporado al sistema ayurvédico de medicina y bienestar cuya meta es el logro del equilibrio de mente y cuerpo. La práctica del yoga incluye el uso de técnicas de control corporal a través de la combinación de posturas físicas, ejercicios de respiración, control mental y emocional y técnicas de meditación y relajación.
La eficacia y la seguridad de la práctica del yoga han sido valoradas en un amplio número de indicaciones y condiciones clínicas, aunque cabe destacar las relacionadas con la salud mental, como la ansiedad, la depresión, la esquizofrenia o el trastorno de estrés post-traumático. También existe un número importante de estudios en patologías cardiovasculares (enfermedad
coronaria arterial o hipertensión), trastornos musculoesqueléticos, entre los que destacan el tratamiento del dolor lumbar, osteoartritis y artritis reumatoide, enfermedades autoinmunes, asma, enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica, diabetes, esclerosis múltiple y algunos tipos de cáncer. En esta revisión se evalúan los efectos del uso del yoga en las siguientes condiciones clínicas: cáncer de mama y hematológico, dolor abdominal recurrente infantil, dolor lumbar crónico, enfermedades respiratorias, enfermedades neurológicas, esquizofrenia e incontinencia urinaria. [EN] Yoga is an ancient system of Indian philosophy incorporated into the Ayurvedic system of medicine and wellness whose goal is the achievement of balance of mind and body. The practice of yoga includes the use of body control techniques through a combination of physical postures, breathing exercises, mental and emotional control and meditation and relaxation techniques. The effectiveness and safety of the practice of yoga have been evaluated in a wide range of indications and clinical conditions, although those related to mental health, such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia or post-traumatic stress disorder, should be highlighted. There are also an important number of studies on cardiovascular conditions (coronary artery disease or hypertension), musculoskeletal disorders, among which the treatment of lumbar pain, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune diseases, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and some types of cancer. This review evaluates the effects of the use of yoga in the following clinical conditions: breast and haematological cancer, recurrent abdominal pain in children, chronic low back pain, respiratory diseases, neurological diseases, schizophrenia and urinary incontinence.
